Choices Part 2

"So that's it. I will be playing Khador and Circle Orboros for the next 6 month and I am excited and curious how it will pan out."

This is a quotation of one of my first posts made on this blog. As I mentioned before, I suffer extremely from faction ADD and with this post I was trying to force myself to keep playing only one (or two things) at a time. Two weeks later I think I will fail to do so ;) I know I am weak, but after playing Circle Orboros in a tournament a week and a half ago I feel the urge to play Cygnar and Cryx. But first things first.

CIRCLE ORBOROS
I had much fun playing Circle Orboros in the last tournament, although I need to improve my placing and learn to think one round ahead when planning my turns with this high mobile, but fragile faction. I still want to play Wurmwood and Baldur2. When I followed the Las Vegas Open, which took place last weekend I was intrigued by the Baldur2 list including a Stomraptor on Una1 Tom Guan played there to good success. So I decided to buy and paint one and try his list.
I also refined my Wurmwood list to include a third Woldwyrd to play him a little more as a gunline type of list. The lists I want to try look like this:

Baldur 2
- Megalith
- Pureblood
Una 1
- Stormraptor
Ogrun Bokur x2 (cliented to Sentry Stones)
Gobber Chef
Sentry Stone x2
Shifting Stones
Swamp Gobbers Bellow Crew

Wurmwood
- Cassius
- Megalith
- Pureblood
- Woldwyrd x3
Gallows Grove
Blackclad Wayfarer
Sentry Stone x2
Shifting Stone x2
Min Bone Grinders
Gatormen Bokur and Shamblers

I am also looking foreward to playing Kaya3, Una2 (more than before the errata), Tanith and Baldur1 with a Woldwrath. And of course I am eager to play Loki !!! So I will stick with Circle Orboros for the time being. There is so much to discover.

KHADOR
I really was looking foreward to playing Khador this year. But right now I am a little down on them. As mentioned before I try to play only painted and I cannot get myself to paint khador models right now. The only model I finished recently is this Devestator.
I am happy with how he turned out, but right now my attention is caught by other things. So I don't think I will be playing Khador in the near future. Maybe I will return to them later in the year, we'll see.

CYGNAR
This is the faction I am most enthusiastic about right now. With the release of Theme Forces there are so many casters out there I want to put on the table. Nemo3, Stryker1, Maddox and of course Haley2 and Haley3. I recently finished painting Laddermore, three Storm Lances and Nemo3.
I really like how these turned out and right now I have 2 more Fireflys and two more Storm Lances on my painting table and will pick up two more Chargers at the next tournament in Erfurt in a week and a half. I haven't decided which faction I will be playing in Erfurt, but Cygnar is very high on that list !!!

CRYX
This is an actual picture of my painting table. Ghost pirates everywhere !!! I am very intrigued to play "The Ghost Fleet" Theme with Denny1, after a friend of mine told me how good it turned when it was put on the table. I couldn't get myself to paint 3 full units of zombie pirates, so I went with the theme and painted them as ghosts. I really liked how they turned out. Two units are finished, only needing to get snow onto their bases. The third unit is primed and will get a wash when I get home from work today. I have a few practise games lined up for Thursday and I hope these will be finished by then.

CONCLUSION
First of all, I won't be making any promises what I will be playing in the future any more ! I have to accept my addiction and live with it ;) So expect battle reports from various factions on this blog in the future. On Thursday I will put Cryx, Cygnar and Circle Orboros into my bag and we will see what gets put on the table. After these practise games I have to decide which faction I will take to Erfurt.

Let's see who will be chosen...

Munich WM/Hordes Tournament Vol. 02 - Round 4 (Battle Report #4) Wurmwood vs Doomshaper2

Prologue
In round 4 I was going to face Max, again from the Rosenheim Meta and he brought Trollbloods. His pairing was Doomshaper2 and Ragnor. I expected to face Doomy, so I picked Wurmwood again. This time I was right and there we go.

Note
Before writing this report I want to point out, that we played the game thinking that a unit can score a zone when 50% of it where standing in it. Turns out the unit must be obove 50% of its unit size and the whole unit has to be in the zone. So I scored points in this game where I shouldn't have and I want to apologize to my opponent for that. Luckily it didn't mean that the wrong guy won ;)

Lists
Wurmwood1 (Wurmwood Tree of Fate & Cassius) -27
 - Cassius the Oathkeeper 0
 - Ghetorix 21
 - Gorax Rager 7
 - Pureblood Warpwolf 17
 - Woldwyrd 9
 - Woldwyrd 9
 Shifting Stones 3
 Shifting Stones 3
 Sentry Stone & Mannikins 5
 Sentry Stone & Mannikins 5
Gatorman Bokor and Bog Trog Swamp Shamblers 11
Farrow Bone Grinders (Leader and 3) 5
 Ogrun Bokur (Client: Wurmwood) 5
Swamp Gobbers Bellows Crew (Leader and 1) 2

Hoarluk Doomshaper, Rage of Dhunia -27
- Dire Troll Mauler 15
- Earthborn Dire Troll 15
- Mulg the Ancient
- Rök
- Troll Axer 10
 Lanyssa Ryssyl, Nyss Sorceress 4
 Krielstone Bearer & Stone Scribes (Leader & 3) 6
- Stone Scribe Elder 3
 Swamp Gobber Bellows Crew 2
Northkin Fire Eaters 7

Deployment
I got first turn and I think I made a big mistake with deployment here. The obstacle on the right side was just so far in the zone, that it was possible to stand behind it and to be in the zone. What I should have done is deploying Wurmwood there and port him up right behind the obstacle with Shifting Stones. There he would be able to dominate the zone and be in absolut safety from his beasts. I thought he would be safe on the left side behind or in the forest as well, turned out I was wrong.

Game
I run up my army to be just outside of thread ranges and try to Claim as much board space as possible. A few Mannikins run up to try and bait the Fire Eaters in.
Fire Eaters take the bait, only killing two mannikins with sprays. Doomy puts 5 fury into the stone and the beasts run in position. Earthborn casts Earth Blessing.

My plan is to go for the Earthborn here with my Woldwyrds and Feat, so he wouldn't be able to do much in return. So the Woldwyrds advance within 10" of the Earthborn and thanks to purgation almost kill him. Sadly he lives on 3 boxes or so. The Pureblood moves up and does enough damage with his spray to remove him. The Bokor runs behind the obstruction to be able to score the Zone on the next turn. Wurmwood moves into the forest and Pops Feat.
I made many, many positioning mistakes here. Wurmwood is to far off on the left so his Feat doesn't have much impact here. Ghetorix is too far up for no reason. And finally I totally forgot about Doomy2's field marshal: overtake. This is going to hurt, badly.

It's go time for Trolls. He is able to see a few Mannikins, a Woldwyrd and the Pureblood because of my poor positioning and he takes the opportunity. Both Rök and Mulg get Rush, Doomy feats and puts Earth Blessing up on himself. The Mauler charges the Pureblood but only hits him twice, so he lives. Mulg charges in and with Overtake is able to kill the Woldwyrd and getting to Ghetorix, doing a decent amount of damage. Then Rök charges in and kills the world. After he is finished he removed 2 Mannikins, Ghetorix, Cassius, 2 Shifting Stones, breaking both units and ends his activation in melee range of Wurmwood. I didn't see this coming and it was absolutely devastating. Wurmwood is now stuck in place, because both stone units can't teleport anymore and Cassius is gone. Sad face. I score a point in the right zone (which I shouldn't have, because 3 Shamblers are out of the zone) 1:0
I lost the attrition battle and was looking for openings here. His caster had 0 fury on him and Earth Blessing up. My only chance was to get the remaining Woldwyrd to shoot and maybe kill Doomy. The Pureblood gets primaled and kills the Mauler, freeing the Woldwyrd. LOS to Doomy is blocked from the Stone Scribe Elder, so the first shot goes into him, forcing a tough check. I needed to boost the damage to get the numers needed. He made his tough check but now is knocked down so the Woldwyrd could draw LOS to Doomy. I needed 11's to hit with an additional die because of purgation. If both the remaining shots hit, it would force a tough check on Doomy on average dice. Sadly, both shots miss. Wurmwood casts a Hellmouth on a Sentry Stone, pulling Rök out of his melee range. I went to 2:0 (again, which I souldn't have).

Sadly there is a Picture missing here. My Opponent pulled all Fury from Rök. Mulg and the Axer frenzy. Mulg only did 5 damage to the Bokur, the Axer killed the Pureblood with his charge, giving Wurmwood back 4 Fury for transfers. Doomy casts Rush onto Rök and he killed 2 Shifting Stones, overtaking and berserking his way to Wurmwood. But because of abysmal dice and 4 Transfers Wurmwood lived on 6 health. Score goes to 3:0
I tried to win on Scenario here, but it wasn't enough (Luckily). Rök gets pulled out by a Hellmouth again and then Wurmwood puts Curse of Shadows on him. The Woldwyrd almost kills Rök by himself because of purgation. The Bokur advances, doing the last points of damage nedded to kill Rök. I tried to find a way to clear the Zone, but I couldn't find one. Score is 4:0
Wurmwood is on 1 HP, so this is game. The Axer puts Rush on Mulg and kills the Bokur which fails his tough roll. Mulg overtakes his way to Wurmwood killing him in one hit.
A loss for Circle Orboros through Assassination!
Analysis
What a game. I really enjoyed it the whole way through and I am really glad that I lost this one. Would have been very sad to win it via scenario when I shouldn't have scored a single CP. Sorry Max, that was my fault and I really felt bad when I realised that when I got home. But luckily I lost. I really gave the game away on my Feat turn due to really bad positioning and forgetting about Overtake. Otherwise I think I am in a really good position because if the split zone scenario.
I finished the tournament 2:2 and ended up in 6th place out of 13 players. Leo (my 2nd round opponent) won the event with Cygnar and Max got 2nd place with his Trolls. Congratulations to them.

Looking forward I don't know what to play in the next event. I will attend a tournament weekend in two and a half weeks in Erfurt (a Single Player Steamroller on Saturday and a 3-Man Team Tournament on Sunday). I could play Una2 with 7 Griffons and Wurmwood, but i don't know if I feel like doing so. We will see. Expect a blog post on this matter soon.

Munich WM/Hordes Tournament Vol. 02 - Round 3 (Battle Report #3) Wurmwood vs Stryker2

Prologue
In round 3 it was Cygnar again, this time Haley2 and Stryker2. I was almost 100% sure that he will drop Haley2, so I picked Wurmwood again. To my surprise he choose Stryker2. Let's see how this turns out.

Lists
Wurmwood1 (Wurmwood Tree of Fate & Cassius) -27
 - Cassius the Oathkeeper 0
 - Ghetorix 21
 - Gorax Rager 7
 - Pureblood Warpwolf 17
 - Woldwyrd 9

Farrow Bone Grinders (Leader and 3) 5
 Ogrun Bokur (Client: Wurmwood) 5
Swamp Gobbers Bellows Crew (Leader and 1) 2

Stryker2 (Lord Commander Stryker) -28
- Ol' Rowdy 18
- Stormclad 18
 Stormblade Infantry 10
- Stormblade Infantry Officer & Standard 5
- Stormblade Infantry Storm Gunner 2
Storm Lances (Leader and 2) 12
 Archduke Alain Runewood 4
 Journeyman Warcaster 4
- Firefly 8
 Major Katherine Laddermore 8
Rhupert Carvolo, Piper of Ord 4
Gorman di Wulfe, Rogue Alchemist 4
 Stormblade Captain 5

Deployment
He won the roll and chose to go second (another surprise). My plan here was to win the attrition battle and from there maybe go for scenario.
Game
Everything ran forward to claim as much board space as possible. Cassius ran and Wurmwood ported up right next to him, putting Spiny Growth up on himself and a forest to block LOS.
Stormblades receive though from Rhupert and pathfinder from Runewood and run. Lances and Laddermore flanking really hard on the left side. Stryker puts up Deceleration and hides behind a Gorman cloud. The rest shuffels up a bit.
Cassius runs in position. Mannikins spray and kill one Stormblade. My army shuffels up a bit, not doing much. Two Bone Grinders kill each other for souls. Wurmwood casts a Hellmouth through Cassius on a Stormblade, killing Rhupert and two more Stormblades. He ports Cassius back to safety and then Pops Feat.

He isn't able to do much under my Feat. Lances and Laddermore keep flanking harder. Stryker hides behind the clouds from the objective and Gorman with Arcane Shield up. He casts Deceleration again. The rest of his army advances up a bit. Stormblades assault the Mannikins they are able to see in the forest, but are only killing two in total.
I see an opening here. Stryker is hiding behind his objective camping 4 focus, but he has a spell on him so my Woldwyrds would benefit from Purgation. He is just outside 10" of a porting Ghetorix and outside LOS from my Woldwyrds. But if I can Hellmouth him to the left, Ghetorix would be in range and both Woldwyrds could see him and are in range also. I decided to go for it. Cassius runs up in position. A Shambler runs to engage Ol'Rowdy, so no countercharges. The Gatorman Bokor charges Gorman, killing him and another Shambler runs in position 3" from Stryker. Ghetorix gets primaled, just in case (16/16 is a thing). Wurmwood activates, casting a Hellmouth on the Shambler, needing a boosted 5. It connects and Stryker is pulled our of safety and getting a few points of damage. Also Wraithbane is cast on the first Woldwyrd, the Pureblood puts it in the second one. Both Sentry Stones activate and are able to do another few points with boosted sprays. The first Woldwyrd is able to aim, hitting on boosted 8's. All his 3 shots hit, doing a lot of damage and taking all of Strykers focus. The second Woldwyrd advances, gets the 10 to hit Stryker and a boosted shot later Stryker is dead.
Victory for Circle Orboros through Assassination.
Analysis
Well, that ended quickly. But after two really long and hard fought games I was happy to take that shot. I think my opponent made two crucial mistakes. First I think he would have been much better off with taking Haley2 into my pairing and second letting me taking first turn is massive. I can run and advance into a really good position here, putting a lot of pressure on him and dictating the flow of the game. I am really pleased with how I performed this assassination. 2:1 for the day and on to the last round of the event.

Munich WM/Hordes Tournament Vol. 02 - Round 2 (Battle Report #2) Wurmwood vs Nemo3

Prologue
In round 2 I was going to face another member of the Rosenheim Meta, and he was bringing Haley3 and Nemo3. I expected him to take Haley3, so I decided to take Wurmwood. Turns out I was wrong so the mach-up ended up being Wurmwood vs Nemo3. Off we go.

Lists
Wurmwood1 (Wurmwood Tree of Fate & Cassius) -27
 - Cassius the Oathkeeper 0
 - Ghetorix 21
 - Gorax Rager 7
 - Pureblood Warpwolf 17
 - Woldwyrd 9
 - Woldwyrd 9

Farrow Bone Grinders (Leader and 3) 5
 Ogrun Bokur (Client: Wurmwood) 5
Swamp Gobbers Bellows Crew (Leader and 1) 2

Nemo3 (Artificer General Nemo & Storm Chaser Adept Finch) -25
- Dynamo 18
- Firefly 8
- Lancer 10
- Squire 0
Storm Lances (Leader and 4) 20
Storm Lances (Leader and 4) 20
 Major Katherine Laddermore 8
 Journeyman Warcaster 4
- Firefly 8
 Captain Arlan Strangewayes 4
 Stormblade Captain 0
Theme Force: Storm Division

Deployment
I got to go first. My plan was to take my own flag with Wurmwood and keeping him safe by putting his forest between the obstruction and the existing forest and win on Scenario from there.
 Game
Stuff runs and I put up a forest with my Sentry Stoones between the forest and the fog, blocking line of sight to my heavies. Shifting Stones port Wurmwood up behind the forest. He casts a forest as mentioned in deployment and put Spiny Growth up on himself.
His whole army runs nearly full speed. Because he is afraid of my Woldwyrds no upkeep spells are cast.
Feat turn. I port Ghetorix up to kill two Storm Lances in the middle, a Woldwyrd killing the third. On the left flank a fully boosted Mannikin spray kills another one, thanks to no upkeep. The second Woldwyrd only manages to put 6 damage on Laddermore. Shamblers run to engage Lances on the right flank. Gobbers put up a cloud, Bone Grinders kill each other for 2 souls. Cassius runs in position and Wurmwood casts a Stranglehold on Dynamo. It connects and does a few points of damage, so Dynamo is strangleheld. He brings Cassius back to safety and then pops Feat. I forget about scenario and nothing contests his flag, so he will score on his turn.
The only Lance left on the left flank runs to engage and contests my flag. Nemo advances to his flag, shoots down the enganging Shamblers freeing up the Lances on the right flank. They go in and kill Shamblers, Mannikins, Gobbers and doing good numbers on the Woldwyrd. The Lancer runs to engage Ghetorix and Dynamo shuffels a bit, staying in the zone. Nemo scores a Point. 0:1
Cassius kills the last Lance on the left side and creats a forest. Ghetorix and the Pureblood both get primaled and ported by Shifting Stones. Together they remove Dynamo, a Lancer, a Firefly and the Stormblade Captain. Ghetorix also contests Nemos flag. A Woldwyrd kills a Lance in the middle. I am not able to remove another Lance on the right flank. Wurmwood ports himself up to Cassius into the forest and base to base with the flag. He also casts Spiny Growth on himself and camps 3. The score goes to 1:1.
I really felt good about my last turn and up on attrition. But holy god was I wrong. Nemo3 feats and kills the world. When the dust settles he removed Ghetorix, the Pureblood, a Worldwyrd, many Shamblers and broke one Shifting Stone unit. His dice were really hot here. We both scored on our flags, so the score goes to 2:2.
This turn was an absolut mess. I only was able to kill two Lances, one with a Woldwyrd and one with the Gatorman Bokor. Otherwise I didn't accomplish much and I slowly run out of steam. Gorax runs to contest his flag, Shifting Stones try to get in the way and I score. 3:2
Sadly there is a Picture missing. Laddermore goes to town and kills the Gorax with one charge and her assault shot (crazy dice). The remaining Lance kills my Gatorman Bokor and he fails his tough roll. Cassius gets killed (can't remember who did it) and the remaining Lance repositions to contest my flag. Score goes to 3:3
I am able to kill the Lance and try to find a way to clear the zone, but I don't have enough left to do so. So the score goes to 4:4.
He runs the Junior up to contest and scores his final control point and I lose 4:5 on scenario.
Loss for Circle Orboros on Scenario

Analysis
What a game! After my turn 3 I felt in really good and strong position. I was up on attrition and on scenario. But Nemo was able to perform a really good comeback, crippling my forces. Once my two heavys were gone I went out of steam and slowly loosing the attrition battle. I really enjoyed this game against a great opponent. I think it's a tricky match-up for both sides, with many options and angles and that is when Warmachine is the most fun. Sidenote: Nemo3 didn't cast any upkeep spells the whole game ;) (I love Woldwyrds)
So 1:1 after two rounds, let's see who I get next.

Munich WM/Hordes Tournament Vol. 02 - Round 1 (Battle Report #1) Baldur2 vs Helynna

Prologue
Last weekend I attended a small tournament in Munich. There were supposed to be 16 Players, but unfortunately only 13 were able to show up. So there would be a "BYE" every round, which was really sad.
I decided to play Circle Orboros this tournament and I brought Wurmwood and Baldur2 as my pairing. The tournament was D&C1, so both lists had to be played. In case it would end after 3 rounds (which was possible) you only had to play one list. I only had played Wurmwood three times and Baldur2 once prior to the tournament, so let's see how it goes.
First round I was paired against Retribution of Scyrah piloted by a newer Player from the ever growing Rosenheimer Meta. He brought Helynna and Ossyan. I was sure he would drop Helynna so I chose Baldur2. I had never played against Helynna before and this match-up looks like it will be an attrition fest. Let's do this.

Lists
Baldur2 (Baldur the Stonesoul) -30
- Pureblood Warpwolf 17
- Pureblood Warpwolf 17
- Feral Warpwolf 18
- Megalith 20
Sentry Stone & Mannikins 5
Sentry Stone & Mannikins 5
Shifting Stones 3
Wrong Eye (Wrong Eye & Snapjaw) 17
- Snapjaw 0
Swamp Gobber Chef 1
Gallows Grove 2

Magister Helynna -30
- Sylys Wyshnalyrr, The Seeker 4
- Discordia 18
- Manticore 14
- Manticore 14
- Manticore 14
- Chimera 8
Arcanist Mechanik 2
Arcanist Mechanik 2
Arcanist Mechanik 2
Lanyssa Ryssyl 4
Dawnguard Sentinels (Leader & 9 Grunts) 18
- Dawnguard Sentinel Officer & Standard 4
- Soulless Escort 1

Deployment
I lost the roll and got to go second. I went with the side with the two forests, so I was able to hide Baldur if nessesary.
Game
Retribution stuff runs up the table. Helynna casts Rhythm of War.
I brick up and put up a wall in front of my spell warded Purebloods. Two Mannikins run to engage two of his Manticores. Sentry Stones put up forests, so there is no LOS to Baldur, Megalith and the Feral.
Two Mannikins get killed. Two Manticores put up covering fire. Sentinels run with mini feat up. Helynna feats. Discordia brain damages a Pureblood and Wrong Eye, so no Submerge and Star Crossed next turn.
I know it is hard to accomplish things with Helynna's feat up. ARM 23 Sentinels are a thing. But I want to try to kill as much as possible, cause I believe they are the greatest thread to my beasts. My dice agree and between a Pureblood spray, Megalith, the second Pureblood in melee and Mannikins (!!) all but three Sentinels die. Mannikins run to contest his zone, Gobber Chef runs within 12" of the enemy zone, so he could contest the next turn if needed. Wrong Eye runs. Baldur puts up a wall (the Proxy base is a Feral btw) and pops Feat.

Helynna puts up Hand of Destruction on Megalith and tries to kill him with a Manticore, but fails because of Feat. Sentinels and a Manticore have trouble hitting the Pureblood behind the wall and fail to kill him as well. He clears his zone to score one point, but otherwise doesn't accomplish much. I feel I am in a really strong position now.
It's go time. Feral puts up Primal on the first Pureblood. The second one kills the two remaining Sentinels, ignoring the standard bearer. Magalith doesn't do much, cause he is filled with 4 fury. Second Pureblood goes in and kills Discordia, Snapjaw kills the Chimera. A Mannikin contests his zone. Gallows Grove ports within 5" of his zone, so he could contest next turn. Baldur puts up a wall and camps 2.
Sadly there is a picture missing. The Manticore finally kills Megalith, but makes a positioning mistake, so he could not see my objective. With two remainig focus and P+S20 he would have killed it on average dice. The second remainig Manticore kills Snapjaw and he clears the zone for a second control point.
I primal both my Feral and Pureblood and kill both remaining Manticores. A Mannikin spray kills an Arcanist. Gallows Grove ports and Gobber Cherf runs to contest his zone. Score is 0:2 for Retribution, but the attrition battle is won and my opponent has only 2 minutes left on his clock.

As he has no time and options left my opponent concedes the game.

Victory for Circle Orboros
Analysis
A really good first game and a good start into the tournament. Most important, no BYE for me. The game went my way, when I was able to kill almost all Sentinels under his feat and feating myself afterwards. We talked about it and we both agreed, that my oppenent feated one turn too early. If he had stayed outside of my thread ranges and just chilled, I would have been forced to come to him and maybe have to feat first. That would have been a completely different game. But a really good, interesting first game and with a really nice opponent. On to round two.

Choices

As mentioned in my first post I suffer from faction ADD (just a little bit). I own every faction in the game except Minions, Mercs and Convergence. In MK2 I changed factions almost every week (a litte bit of an exaggeration, but you get the point).  Since MK3 dropped I have played games with Cygnar, Protectorate of Menoth, Retribution of Scyrah, Khador and Circle Orboros. I played tournaments with Cygnar, Retribution and the Protectorate. What I want to try now, is to focus on two factions (one Warmachine and one Hordes) at a time and only play these for a 6 month period.
So let's see.
HORDES

I really enjoyed playing Trollbloods and Legion of Everblight back in MK2. Legion was my most played faction besides Cryx. With the changes to the factions made in MK3 they both don't appeal to me as much as before. I really had high expectations on Madrak3, as I like the character very much, but I am really disappointed with his rules. Maybe with new releases (Azrael and Kallus2 come to mind) my enthusiasm for Legion will increase again, but right now I have no plans on putting them on the table any time soon. I recently bought a big Skorne package and I am looking forward to painting them in the next months and maybe play them in the next 6 month period.

So that leaves Circle Orbors as the only Hordes faction I'm interested in playing right now and it will be one of the factions I plan on playing for the next 6 month. I will attend a 16 man tournament next weekend and I will bring Circle to that. The Warlocks that interest me the most are Wurmwood, Baldur1, Baldur2, Una2 and Kaya3 (once she is released). My pairing for the tournament will be Wurmwood and Baldur2. I have a few games lined-up against Cygnar for thursday, so expect battle reports and musings on my lists soon.
WARMACHINE

Cryx was my first faction and my first love. They drew me into playing Warmachine in the first place. I really like the astehtics of the faction and enjoyed playing them in MK2. I haven't put them on the table in MK3 and even put my army up for sale. Right now I don't plan on selling them and recently I built my first Cryx list in Warroom, so there is a possibility I will play them some day in the future.
I already played Retribution of Scyrah and Protectorate of Menoth in tournaments in MK3. While they are really strong factions with very good choices (hello High Reclaimer) I don't plan to play them any time soon.

I really like playing Cygnar (aka the Haleys) and my interest in the faction has increased since Theme Forces dropped. I would love to put Nemo3 on the table, since he looks awesome and a lot of fun to play. Maybe I will try him out in a few friendly games, but I have no plans on playing Cygnar competitivly for the next 6 month. Right now, there is one faction I am really excited to explore and that is Khador. I think they have a lot of strong options and many playable Warcasters. The Warcasters i want tp put on the table are Butcher3, Harkevich, Vlad1, Vlad2, Irusk2, Strakhov2 (once he is released), Sorscha1 and Butcher1. Lots to choose from! I already commited myself on playing Khador in a small 12 man tournament in March. Really looking forward to that.
So that's it. I will be playing Khador and Circle Orboros for the next 6 month and I am excited and curious how it will pan out. Expect the first battle reports soon (hopefully friday).

The Beginning

Well, though I doubt that many people will end up reading this blog, I've decided to create it anyways. I've always thought about trying this, and I've always been an avid wargamer, so I decided to create this blog as a tool for myself (and others) to give voice to my thoughts on the game, and ideas that I have about it.

So, first things first.

I've been playing Warmachine and Hordes for about 3 years now. I started playing Cryx and Trollbloods in MK2. I find it very difficult to focus on only one or two armies, so by now I own nearly the full catalog of the following factions: Cryx, Protectorate of Menoth, Cygnar, Retribution of Scyrah, Legion of Everblight, Circle Orboros, Trollbloods and recently started building and painting Khador and Skorne. All of these factions are fully painted and I try to follow the rule, that I only play fully painted armies.

I really like the competitive side of Warmachine and Hordes the most, but as a father of two little children I find it often really difficult to find the time to compete on a high level.

With this blog I want to share my journey to playing the game, so except battle reports, tournament reports, thoughts on list building and the meta, pictures of newly painted models and so on. Maybe I will succeed in my goal to focus on only one or two factions at a time, but I really can't promise ;)

So let's do this.
